How does marceline know princess bubblegum

I can't always treat everything like a little boy game. Maybe older people, like, really are different I think I really sponked up. In " Rattleballs ," Finn tries to get over his relationship with Flame Princess by protecting and serving Bubblegum, and takes to annoy her first thing in the morning in Ice King fashion.

Bubblegum is annoyed with him and tries to ignore him. When she needs milk, Finn overdoes it and spends three weeks getting a tiny vial of mink's milk, which Bubblegum rejects.

Finn also serves her "one hundred percent," like how the Gumball Guards were programmed to. Although it is unknown if he is interested in Bubblegum again, he seemed to overdo the task and wants to be her servant. At the end of " Breezy ," the duet song " Love " between Finn and Breezy shows Breezy replaced by a vision of Bubblegum, who also takes part in the duet. This suggests Finn's feelings for her may be reserfucing. She kisses Finn on the cheek, however, we know that this is not in a romantic way as she is revealed to be in a relationship with Marceline.

In the original pitch documents, Princess Bubblegum and Marceline are shown to be friendly rivals. Though appearing at the same place at the same time on several occasions, the nature of their relationship was not known until "Go With Me," where we see Marceline mockingly greeting Princess Bubblegum, much to her displeasure.

Marceline is the first and only character to call Princess Bubblegum by her first name, Bonnibel, though she usually shortens it to Bonnie. During their early interactions, Marceline appears to view Princess Bubblegum as boring and a snob, while Princess Bubblegum, generally a woman of grace and poise, views her as unrefined and rude. The song begins with Marceline threatening to drink the red from Princess Bubblegum's face, which Bubblegum calls "distasteful.

Marceline ends the song by saying "I shouldn't have to be the one who makes up with you; So why do I want to? The Door Lord's door begins to glow brightly behind her, indicating the honesty of her lyrics, although at this point she gets "thrown off" by Princess Bubblegum staring at her and fails to open the door.

Following this dispute, the two of them seem willing to put their differences aside and share a pasta dinner with Finn. Later, when Princess Bubblegum miscalculates the music needed to open the door, Marceline teases her, saying, "Looks like you aren't as perfect as you thought! Guess you can't judge me anymore.

After this, Marceline spits on Princess Bubblegum's sweater, and she walks away, incredibly offended. Marceline begins to storm off as well, and begins to cry, although it is unclear if her tears are due to remorse or anger. Finn helps the two of them reconcile in his song " My Best Friends in the World ". Upon opening the door, it is revealed that the item stolen from Princess Bubblegum was a t-shirt that Marceline had given to her, which she confesses she values deeply and wears as pajamas.

Marceline, on the other hand, didn't have an item, and had simply wanted to spend time together with Finn, Jake, and Princess Bubblegum. Following the release of "What Was Missing," the promotional video series " Mathematical!

It questions Marceline's true feelings about Princess Bubblegum, stating that "Marceline might like Princess Bubblegum a little more than she'd like to admit Maybe a little more than Finn," with the implication being that Marceline has romantic feelings for Princess Bubblegum.

The video was only uploaded to Frederator Studios' blog for a short time before it was removed. Fred Seibert issued an apology for the presumptuous nature of the video, and the "Mathematical! Princess Bubblegum and Marceline did not have any major interactions for two full seasons after "What Was Missing," possibly as a result of this controversy.

In the episode " I Remember You ," Marceline appears to be having a good time playing music with the Ice King until he mentions Princesss Bubblegum's name, at which point Marceline's expression turns into an uncomfortable frown. It is unclear whether this is due to her complicated feelings for Bubblegum or just because the Ice King's princess-obsessed personality upsets her.

In the episode " All the Little People ," Princess Bubblegum's and Marceline's mini-selves approach each other and wave. In the episode " Sky Witch ," Princess Bubblegum is shown sleeping in the shirt that Marceline gave her.

When she wakes up, she smells the shirt deeply, before wearing it under her clothes. As it is not clear when this picture was taken, it could have been taken before the events of the series or more recently when they began to get close again. Later on in the episode, Marceline visits Princess Bubblegum at the castle, pushing a Gumball Guardian out of the way, entering the windows, and closing the curtains without the Guardian complaining or otherwise reacting at all.

Initially, Princess Bubblegum tries to act busy, but when Marceline expresses that she wants the Princess's help to find Maja the Sky Witch, Bubblegum agrees to help her. When trying to get her to relax through Maja's bramble barrier, Bubblegum calls her 'friend,' smiles, and gives her tea. However, the Princess is annoyed to discover that Marceline is simply looking for her old toy, Hambo.

She attempts to dissuade her, saying that Raggedy Princess could make her a new Hambo "or be [her] new Hambo," but, after realizing how much Hambo truly means to Marceline, she agrees to continue helping her search for it despite how dangerous it may be. Eventually, Princess Bubblegum barters for Hambo by offering Maja the t-shirt that Marceline gave her, an object that Maja notes has "sentimental freshness" and "psychic resonance" greater than Hambo's.

Bubblegum chooses not to tell Marceline how she got Hambo back, stating only "I took care of it," and climbs onto Marceline's back so they can fly out of Maja's home. Princess Bubblegum and Marceline's friendship is further explored in the comic Adventure Time: Marceline and the Scream Queens Issue 1 , in which Bubblegum becomes the manager of Marceline's band.

However, the comics are not considered canon to the series. In the episode " Time Sandwich ," Princess Bubblegum contacts Marceline for help when her scientific approach to Jake's problem fails.

She praises Marceline's problem-solving skills, despite the fact that Marceline's plan is wholly unsuccessful, indicating that Princess Bubblegum may have been flattering her.

In the episode " Varmints ," Princess Bubblegum and Marceline's past relationship is brought up again. At the beginning of the episode, Marceline is frustrated to find out that Bonnibel lost her princess-ship. She also seems angry when she asks where Princess Bubblegum went, and disappointed that Bubblegum didn't tell her about such a major change in her life. When fighting Varmints, it is revealed that their relationship was strained because Bubblegum had to manage the Candy Kingdom. She said, "The Candy Kingdom used to be so small, so manageable; then it kept growing and growing, and there was always some new disaster to prepare against.

Bubblegum calls Marceline "Marcy" again in this episode, when Marceline gets knocked out and Bubblegum drags her away. At the end of the episode Marceline ends up watching Bonnibel's farm for the night, while Bubblegum sleeps on her shoulder. Before her attempt to do so, Bubblegum strokes Marceline's hair and tells her that she cares about her.

In the episode " Take Her Back ," Bubblegum refers to Marceline as her "best friend" and expresses great distress upon Marceline being poisoned. Later, when the Moon breaks into the safe, Bubblegum starts crying and pleading to Marceline to wake up from her "poison coma. After the poison is removed from her body, Marceline sighs happily and rests in Bubblegum's lap. In the episode " Checkmate ", when Marceline is doing "bat jacks" jumping jacks with Bubblegum, she describes a weird feeling in her stomach.

Bubblegum suggests that it is fear, which Marceline discredits. Marceline then says, "Maybe its love? She then says, "Now I guess we get to hang out with each other forever," which causes Bubblegum to blush. Although Bubblegum doesn't like the Ice King, she is willing to spend time with him for Marceline's sake. Later, when Simon is speaking with Marceline, he askes her if she has a boyfriend, which makes Bubblegum slightly turn her head backwards in interest.

When Marceline replies that she doesn't have a boyfriend, Bubblegum turns back her head with a little smile. In the episode " Seventeen ", Bubblegum's relatives attempt to attack her, but Marceline quickly intervenes, showing concern for Bubblegum's safety. They are also seen holding hands during Finn's birthday celebration.

Enraged, she attacks it and manages to hold it off. When it turns out that Bubblegum is all right, Marceline rushes to her side and expresses relief and concern over her. She confesses her true feelings, revealing that even after the two of them grew apart she had always worried about Bubblegum and wanted to be there to protect her. Bubblegum reassures Marceline that she'll always be safe, at which point the two laugh together and share a kiss.

Later, in the montage at the end of the episode, the two are seen at Marceline's house, cuddling beside each other on a couch enjoying their lives together as a couple.

In the special " Obsidian " taking place some time in the near future, Princess Bubblegum and Marceline are shown as a couple, possibly living together at Marceline's cave and Bubblegum even refers to Marceline as her "vampire girlfriend" at one point. They revisit the Glass Kingdom " where it's revealed that their original relationship broke down many years ago.

When she and Marceline are trapped in a cave, Marceline sings her love song Monster to Bonnie, affirming her love for her, and they share a passionate kiss.

Marceline and Bonnie are eventually freed from the cave when See-through Princess destroys the barrier. The episode ends with Marceline and Princess Bubblegum dancing together to the song Eternity with You.

Ricardio seemed to have common interests as Bubblegum and they became friends very quickly. They are seen dancing together and preparing to perform scientific experiments. However, at the end of the episode " Ricardio the Heart Guy ," it is revealed that Ricardio is Ice King's sentient heart who wishes to bring Bubblegum's heart to life and marry it. Princess Bubblegum was kidnapped and held hostage by Ricardio. However, he was beaten up by Finn and Jake and was returned back into Ice King's body.

When she finally came, he reveals that this time he wants to marry Bubblegum herself. She then finds that Ricardio's limbs were weakly attached and challenges him to a fight and then tears them apart. She leaves him in a bad condition, as he says he only wanted to impress her but she angrily says that he failed and warns him to never come back as he weakly limps away.

Princess Bubblegum is shown to have an outright hatred for the Duke of Nuts because he eats all of the Royal Pudding. In the episode " The Duke ," he explains to the princess that it is due to a medical condition; his pudding deficiency causes him to lose control and eat all of the pudding. Princess Bubblegum tells him that all is forgiven, but reveals to Finn that she still does not trust the duke.

Princess Bubblegum has shown some resentment towards the King of Ooo and believes him to be a fraud. She does not accept his authority as a king and dislikes him. In the episode " Apple Wedding ", trying to prove that he was a con man, Bubblegum breaks into his blimp to search for proof. She finds an expired certificate stating his right as a priest for Tree Trunk's wedding and tries to use this as a reason to arrest him. However, she was proven wrong by the King of Ooo and was accused for snooping and breaking into his blimp.

Not willing to admit that she was wrong, Bubblegum sends him to jail unfairly when he was not at fault, as well as the other wedding guests when they protest. In the episode " Hot Diggity Doom ", the Candy Kingdom held an election for princess, and King of Ooo persuaded the candy citizens to vote for him. Princess Bubblegum begrudgingly accepted these results, and went to live in her Uncle Gumbald's cabin. She stays angry at him from the start of season 7 to the end of the Stakes miniseries, where she gets the kingdom back.

Princess Bubblegum showing Finn the Ice King's new heart, which is partly made of maracas. This makes him happy. Ice King spends a great deal of his time obsessing over capturing princesses. His most targeted princess is Bubblegum, who is annoyed with the Ice King's actions but generally seems to put up with them.

When the Ice King selfishly neglects to acknowledge Princess Bubblegum's purpose in asking him to help, she becomes frustrated with him, ultimately forcing Princess Bubblegum to order Finn and Jake to capture the Ice King at all costs without telling them why she wants him imprisoned. As Finn is fighting the Lich, the Ice King captures her, intending to marry her. After the Lich is defeated, Ice King accidentally drops the princess into the Lich's evil power source , corrupting her.

However, he is still loyal enough towards her to help save her life after her broken body was possessed by the Lich to destroy Ooo.

She mostly just accepts that he is who he is even before hanging out with him for Marceline. She is obviously very talented, being able to easily voice act in multiple shows at a time. Princess Bubblegum and Starfire have a few things in common. They both have pink hair, they are both princesses, and they both know that other people find them super attractive. Hynden Walch doesn't have to change things up too much when switching between these characters.

Princess Bubblegum has the personality of a human being but there is no way she is fully human when she's got pink skin and pink hair. She clearly has something else mixed into her the way adorable little BMO is made up of electronic robot parts. Her body most likely tastes very sweet if someone were to bite into her. Luckily for her, she is often protected from harm or danger by Finn and Jake. Lady Rainicorn takes Princess Bubblegum wherever she needs to go.

She is the flying unicorn everyone wishes they could have as a pet. She is sweet, loyal, and on top of that, she is colorful. She is the best companion for someone like Princess Bubblegum in the magical world of Adventure Time. Whenever Princess Bubblegum needs to communicate with Lady Rainicorn, they speak to each other in Korean. Princess Bubblegum is fluent in English, Korean, and German. Princess Bubblegum found out that she was the incarnated modern-day "Candy Elemental".

The elements in Adventure Time are different than the elements most people know on planet earth. On earth, the elements are fire, water, earth, and air. On Adventure Time the elements are fire, ice, candy, and slime. These details have yet to be explained.

In " Everything Stays ", Simon, who has almost transformed into the Ice King permanently and is thus leaving to isolate himself, assures a young Marceline that he has arranged for someone else to take care of her. In a flashback, it is shown that he had re-entered her life after their long separation by smashing a hole in the young Marceline's hut with the family battle axe.

He then announces that he was summoned by "someone with glasses" and that he and Marceline should "go suck some souls together", before destroying an entire wall of the hut. Marceline is shocked and repelled by Hunson's reckless obliviousness to her struggle for survival in the post-Mushroom War world. This flashback sheds light on Marceline's deeply hurt reaction to his act of eating her fries in his debut episode many seasons prior; the pre-teen Marceline was not yet a vampire and needed to eat, whereas the deathless demon Hunson has no need to.

Yet, he carelessly ate her fries when she needed any food she could get to stay alive in the post-apocalyptic world. This incident appears to embody Marceline's long-held grievance that Hunson didn't care about her survival.

In " Everything Stays ", Marceline and her human mother are seen together in a brief pre-Mushroom War flashback. They appeared to have had a very strong bond with one another, and Marceline's mother is seen comforting a young Marceline, who is frightened of her weird dreams, with a song called " Everything Stays ", which they sing together. In " Ketchup ", Marceline is emotional at seeing long-lost photos of her as a child with her mother on the beach.

In the Distant Lands episode " Obsidian ", she is seen with a young Marceline struggling to survive in the post-apocalyptic world. Though their relationship remained as loving prior to the apocalypse, the apocalypse revealed some flaws; Elise was unwilling to share harsh realities with her daughter. Something during the post-apocalyptic time, Elise fell gravely ill, and hid her illness from Marceline.

She would later succumb to her illness, and tried to shield Marceline from her death by convincing her to leave her behind and find the location of a safe shelter without her. Her death would end up plaguing Marceline with centuries of grief, as Marceline falsely believed that Elise had abandoned her because Elise had been afraid of her demonic nature, which she had exposed by slaying a mutated dog by sucking their soul.

Centuries after her death, Marceline eventually returned to the shelter that Elise had directed her to, discovering an ancient voicemail left for her by Elise. In the voicemail, Elise apologized for lying to Marceline in order to get her to go to the shelter, and assured Marceline that she was brave, loved, and had a good heart.

She ended the voicemail by asking that Marceline forgive her for lying. The revelation left Marceline deeply emotional, helping her recover from the overwhelming grief of losing Elise. Marceline's Zombie poodle, Schwabl. Marceline has a pet zombie poodle named Schwabl. Schwabl was seen briefly in her house in the episode " It Came from the Nightosphere " lying in the living room when Finn and Marceline were doing a song.

It stood up and walked to another room once Finn started beat-boxing. Pendleton Ward has confirmed that Schwabl was based on his friend Marie's dog Schwabl. In " Marceline's Closet ", there is a doggy door in the front that Jake uses to get into Marceline's house while Finn and Jake were playing Cloud Hunt. Schwabl is also a main character in almost all of Marceline's flashbacks as well as " Marcy's Super Secret Scrapbook " and the " Adventure Time: Spoooktacular ".

Marceline and the Ice King shared a father-daughter relationship during the aftermath of the Mushroom War when he was still Simon Petrikov, and he was the one who originally gave her Hambo. Marceline remembers her past connection with Simon, but the Ice King doesn't. Though Marceline discourages the Ice King from constantly coming to her house, she does not immediately force him out even when Finn and Jake arrive to take him away.

Before the crown wiped his memory, he cared for Marceline and wrote her a note about their friendship while apologizing for leaving her and explaining why he had to, which she eventually reads. She finally admits to liking the Ice King, but only as a father-figure, as she stopped the Ice King from kissing her when he mistakes it for flirting and says she doesn't like him "that way.

She doesn't fully understand the consequences of the ice crown , and doesn't know how she can help or save him. They are seen together by Finn and Jake when they turn the messages into a song, as Marceline sheds tears while singing with her former guardian. In the Farmworld universe, Simon stops the Lich 's existence by using his powers to stop the mushroom bomb from hitting Earth, but is killed in the process.

Distraught by this act of bravery, Marceline protects his dead body for the next thousand years, even avoiding becoming a vampire just to protect him and, more importantly, his crown.

She says she loves him, and invites him to play basketball with Finn and Jake. She is shown to have a strong emotional bond towards him, thinking of him as a father, and being worried about his well-being and sanity. She also reveals to Finn and Jake her history with him, meaning that she is not ashamed to have an affiliation with the Ice King. In " Betty ", Marceline faints when Simon informs her of his return. She sacrifices Hambo just so he can revisit his lost love for a short time to tell her he loves her.

In " The Empress Eyes ", Marceline tries to protect the Ice King from The Empress , a Vampire who had hypnotized Simon and turned him into her thrall sometime before he completely succumbed to the ice crown. Marceline also reveals that Simon was the main reason she began hunting Vampires, and it is suggested that she fought The Empress in the past in order to free Simon from her control.

Despite previously following The Empress' orders and protecting her, the Ice King refuses to kill Marceline when The Empress commands him to. Marceline eventually kills The Empress with the help of Princess Bubblegum. In " Take Her Back ", while suffering from the effects of the scorpion envenomation she received from her battle with The Hierophant , Marceline has a dream where a slightly older version of herself visits Simon who is living happily with Betty.

Later, Simon is seen making popcorn in her house for Marceline and Princess Bubblegum, suggesting their original friendship was restored along with the return of Simon's sanity. Though they were initially enemies, Finn and Marceline soon befriend one another. Even when Marceline acts as a bully in her debut episode, " Evicted!

Both Marceline and Finn share the same spark for adventure and love of danger and excitement. Marceline is very good friends with Finn, who she seems to trust and is very comfortable being around.

One of the reasons Finn and Marceline befriend each other is that Finn saved Marceline's life in " Henchman " when Jake exposed her to the sunlight and threw garlic at her in a misguided attempt to help Finn. Although they were friends, Marceline still seemed to care about her Ax bass more than him, as seen in "It Came from the Nightosphere. They go to the movies together, but only as friends. More recently, Marceline has expressed that she does indeed care for Finn's well being.

This is exemplified in " Heat Signature ", where she becomes more protective of Finn when her ghost friends take pranking him and Jake too far on what started as a harmless "vampire initiation. In the same episode, Finn sees Marceline naked as she is about to take a shower, resulting in Finn being very flustered. Also, in the episode, Marceline forgives them for sneaking into her house even though she says not to.

After hearing this, she jests to Finn that she doesn't want to hang out with him anymore. In " Bad Little Boy ", Marceline tells a story centered on the interaction between her male-counterpart, Marshall Lee , and Finn's female-counterpart, Fionna. It is possible that she based the story on her own interaction with Finn.

Even though Marceline claimed she only likes Finn as a friend, Marshall Lee seemed to think Fionna liked him more than that. It is also possible that Marceline wrote it as a love story only to please the other princesses, but the former statement could hint at Marceline's feelings for Finn. She shows that they still have the same friendship they did in previous seasons, backing up that she was only jesting about not wanting to hang out anymore.

In the mini-series, " Islands ", Marceline shows up to wish Finn and Jake goodbye before they embark on their trip, and states that she and Bubblegum care for him. As an avid trickster, Marceline cannot resist scaring Jake whenever they meet.

As he has a completely rational fear of vampires, Marceline often teases Jake and intentionally horrifies him when the chance is given. This perpetual bullying comes back to haunt Marceline, however, when Jake refuses to believe in her generally wholesome ways and nearly fatally wounds her in "Henchman. In "It Came From the Nightosphere", Jake hides in Finn's pocket throughout the episode, implying that he is still afraid of her.

Later in the season however, Jake gets over his fear, and he is often seen hanging out with Finn and Marceline as friends. He later considers himself a friend though, as evidenced in " Memory of a Memory ". In the beginning of the episode, Rag Wizard informs Finn and Jake that Marceline is the one in trouble, and Jake begins to run faster. Later, when they run into the young Marceline and she asks who they are, Finn says "We're Finn and Jake!
